Which timbers are used in the construction of your saunas?

We source our timbers sustainably, and popular choices include  Red Cedar, Hemlock , Pine and thermo-modified pine along with other thermo-Modified timber species such as Ayous, Alder and Aspen.

Is onsite assembly possible?

Are you saunas Insulated and Ventilated 

Absolutely we take pride in producing the most economical and efficient saunas that will hold heat and heat up fast. We have implemented  ventilation systems into each and every sauna to protect the internal timbers from decay caused from moisture.

Do we need to hire an electrician?

For our small household saunas an electrician is not usually required. For our larger saunas that require a stove with a power output above 3kw, yes, a licensed electrician should carry out a hardwire of your sauna. Southern Cross Saunas supplies the saunas as an appliance ready for electrical connection and we are more than happy to assist through the electrical process.

What sort of foundation do we need?

As part of our standard installation service all saunas are installed onto level piers made by us.  In the case of an uneven location or soft soil then extra steps may need to be taken. We are more than happy to assist through this process.

What is the difference between infrared and steam saunas?

Infrared saunas work from infrared light that is not visible to the human eye and this light creates heat on your skin and thus heats your body, steam saunas work by heating the air around you. Both saunas bring on high body temperature.

Do we build infrared saunas?

Yes, absolutely we build either cabin that suits you and will even combine both heat sources to create the ultimate cabin.
