Effective from 1/1/2021Building and Fixtures1. Scope of Warranty and Conditions1.1 Southern Cross Saunas warrants that all building works and supplied fixtures will be free from manufacturing defects for a period of 2 years from completion. Any defects reported during this period will be remedied at the discretion of Southern Cross Saunas.
1.2 This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable, unless the sauna forms part of an approved building project.
1.3 This warranty does not cover defects caused by:
- Incorrect use or failure to follow operating and maintenance guidelines.
- Damage caused by acts of God or unforeseen natural events.
- Normal wear and tear.
- Naturally occurring characteristics of timber including grain variation, knots, colour variation, or movement.
- Accessories such as buckets, ladles, thermometers, and sand timers.
- Glass components including doors, windows, and glass panels, except in cases where manufacturing defect or installation defect attributable to Southern Cross Sauna is established. Breakage, impact damage, thermal shock, or damage resulting from misuse or environmental factors is not covered under this warranty.
1.4 This warranty will not apply if:
- Defects are not reported within 2 months of discovery.
- The sauna continues to be used after a defect is identified without written consent from Southern Cross Saunas.
- The sauna has been used commercially or subjected to heavy/public use.
2. Submission and Handling of Warranty Claims2.1 Upon discovery of any defect, the owner must cease use of the sauna and notify Southern Cross Saunas immediately.
2.2 Warranty claims must be supported with photographs and/or video evidence and sufficient information to allow assessment of the issue.
3. Warranty Inspection and AssessmentWhere a warranty claim is submitted and the cause of the reported issue cannot be reasonably determined from photographs, videos, or documentation alone, Southern Cross Saunas may require an on-site inspection to accurately diagnose the condition of the sauna and determine whether the issue is covered under this warranty.
Prior to attendance, an inspection and assessment fee may be payable. This fee is charged solely to cover the cost of attendance and technical assessment.
If, following inspection, the reported issue is confirmed to be a defect covered under this warranty or under the consumer guarantees provided by the Australian Consumer Law, the inspection fee will be fully refunded.
If the issue is determined not to be covered under this warranty or the Australian Consumer Law - including but not limited to issues arising from misuse, lack of maintenance, environmental conditions, ventilation, humidity, or normal timber movement — the inspection fee will not be refundable.
Stove and Controller- The sauna heater and controller carry their own manufacturer’s warranty, which applies separately from this building warranty.
- The manufacturer’s warranty shall remain valid only where the electric sauna heater is connected to the mains power supply by a qualified electrician in strict accordance with the HUUM (applicable heater manufacturer’s) installation manual installation manual and all manufacturer’s installation instructions. This includes ensuring that all required openings, penetrations, connections, and sealing works are completed correctly and appropriately.
- Southern Cross Saunas accepts no liability for defects, damage, or performance issues arising from incorrect installation or failure to comply with the manufacturer’s installation requirements.
- Southern Cross Saunas can supply replacement elements as required (parts only).
- Light globes are not covered under this warranty.
